Channel and Lap Siding

Channel (a.k.a. Lap) Siding is a popular type of siding and is used whenever a rustic appearance is desired. This siding option is also quite versatile and can be installed vertically, horizontally or diagonally. In channel or lap siding the profile of each board partially overlaps that of the board next to it creating a channel that gives shadow line effects, provides excellent weather protection, and allows for dimensional movement. It can come in a variety of different sizes, patterns and grades. This siding type can also be supplied kiln dried or green/unseasoned.

The two most common patterns for lap siding are going to be shiplap with a center match pattern or channel rustic. With all of the lap siding patterns you have the option to install the material vertically, horizontally or at an angle, which allows the owner to choose a very specific look for their home or business.  Our most commonly sold lap pattern is the channel rustic, which has an attractive resawn face grade face. We do have the ability to create a smooth face lap siding through our specialty milling options.

All Lap siding options are available in a variety of grades ranging from vertical grain clear to utility. BCL can offer any size of siding you may need.

Western Red Cedar Channel Siding : Raw Lumber

Channel rustic siding is a popular choice for homeowners who want a unique, rustic look for their homes. Here are some reasons why you may choose channel rustic siding for your home:

  1. Aesthetic appeal: Channel rustic siding provides a natural, textured appearance that adds character and charm to your home. The rough-hewn look of the siding mimics the look of wood that has been weathered over time, giving your home a warm and inviting appearance.

  2. Durability: Channel rustic siding is typically made from high-quality materials, such as cedar or redwood, which are naturally resistant to rot, decay, and insects. This makes it a durable option that can withstand the elements and maintain its beauty for many years.

  3. Easy maintenance: Channel rustic siding is designed to be low-maintenance, so you won’t have to worry about constantly repainting or sanding it to keep it looking its best. Simply clean it with soap and water from time to time, and it will maintain its beauty for years to come.

  4. Energy-efficient: Channel rustic siding provides an insulating layer for your home, helping to reduce energy costs and keep your home comfortable year-round. This makes it an environmentally friendly and cost-effective choice for your home.

  5. Versatility: Channel rustic siding can be used on a variety of home styles, from traditional to contemporary, making it a versatile choice that can fit any design aesthetic.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a siding option that offers a unique, rustic look, durability, easy maintenance, energy efficiency, and versatility, channel rustic siding may be a great choice for your home.
